Frequently asked questions
What is LUFS?
Loudness Units relative to Full Scale, a measure of how loud audio sounds to people over time. Streaming platforms turn tracks up or down to their own LUFS target.
Why not just maximize the volume?
Peak normalization only looks at the loudest sample. A single spike can keep the whole file quiet. Loudness normalization matches perceived volume, so different files sound equally loud.
What happens to a video?
Only the audio is processed; the video stream is copied without re-encoding, so it keeps its quality.
