    How to use

    1. Play the left and right channels. The sound should come from one side only.
    2. Run the phase test. In-phase sound feels centered; out-of-phase sound feels wide and hollow.
    3. Play the sweep and note where the sound starts and stops for you and your speakers.
    4. With a surround setup, test each channel from the surround panel.

    Frequently asked questions

    Left and right are swapped.

Headphones may be on backwards or speaker cables swapped. Some audio drivers also have a channel swap option.

The phase test sounds the opposite way.

If out-of-phase sounds more centered than in-phase, one speaker has its + and − wires reversed.

I cannot hear the highest frequencies.

That is normal. Hearing above 15–17 kHz fades with age, and many small speakers cannot play very low bass.
