Frequently asked questions
What is PDF/A?
PDF/A is an ISO standard for archiving. Everything needed to show the document, such as fonts and color information, is stored inside the file, so it looks the same years later on any device.
Which level should I choose?
PDF/A-2b suits most uses. Choose PDF/A-1b if an older system asks for it, and PDF/A-3b if files will be attached later, for example for e-invoices.
Is the result validated?
The file is created by Ghostscript for the selected level. For official submissions you can check it with a free validator such as veraPDF. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
