    Frequently asked questions

Why is my mouse, keyboard or USB stick missing?

Chrome hides devices whose functions are handled by the system for security reasons (keyboards, mice, storage, webcams, audio). Use the matching tests on this site for those. Controllers, development boards and many special devices are shown.

What does the USB version mean?

It is the specification the device reports: 2.0 means up to 480 Mbit/s, 3.x up to 5–20 Gbit/s. The actual speed also depends on the port and cable.

Can the site access my device?

Only the device you choose, only on this page, and only while it is open. This tool just reads the descriptor; it does not send any commands.
