    Frequently asked questions

Can I change the existing text of the PDF?

Yes, with the Replace text tool: click a word or line, type the new text, and the old text is covered with the background color. The new text uses a standard font, so it can look slightly different from the original. Scanned pages need OCR first. The old text is hidden, not deleted, so it can still be found by copying or searching; to remove confidential text, use Redact PDF.

Are notes visible in every PDF reader?

Notes are saved as standard PDF comments, so Acrobat, Edge, Chrome, Preview and most readers show them as a small icon that opens the text.

    Is my file uploaded?

No. The editor runs completely in your browser.
