Frequently asked questions
Why are browser results different from tools like namebench?
Browsers cannot send plain DNS packets, so this test uses DNS over HTTPS to the same providers. The extra encryption adds a few milliseconds, but the ranking is usually the same.
Is my current DNS server included?
No. A web page cannot see or query the DNS server set in your system directly. Compare the top results with your provider's DNS by switching and running the speed test again.
Is a faster DNS always better?
Speed is one factor. Privacy policy, filtering (malware or ad blocking) and reliability also matter. A difference below 10 ms is hardly noticeable.
